Business Challenge
Compared to the old street lighting systems, modern smart street lighting is a world of difference. It may seem as easy as ABC, but when you dive into the details, it can be quite costly. The rise of smart street lighting systems reflects the innovative spirit of humanity. With the current trend towards smart lighting systems, there is a growing demand for reliable industrial routers to efficiently manage and control these systems. A Company of Municipal Engineering approached Orxcel with their requirements for the system. After a rigorous project analysis, we successfully overcame various technical challenges and delivered a satisfactory solution for our partner.
Technical Requirements:
- A reliable network connection is essential.
- The router must withstand harsh environmental conditions, ranging from scorching daytime temperatures of up to 50 degrees to frigid nighttime lows of -15 degrees.
- It should support dual SIM cards, allowing the use of two operators’ services.
- The router should have Wi-Fi capabilities, ensuring that all controllers can connect to it and transmit data back to the Monitoring Center.
- Given that there is an IP camera every 500 meters, the routers must facilitate high-speed data transmission, transmitting pictures and videos back to the monitoring center via the cellular network.
Solution
Orxcel’s O200 Cellular Router with Wi-Fi is the ideal model for this application. All smart street lighting controllers are connected to these routers, which can trigger them via DI/DO functionalities. These routers have proven their industrial performance in challenging environments, earning our trust and reliability. The first phase of the project has been successfully deployed, and we are already planning to extend it to the second phase.
